Truth, love, reason, existence, hope and will. Hum… Heavy stuff! I am not sure if one can take it all in. However, I do believe that love is the ultimate reason for existence. That belief indeed gives me hope and sustains my will. Mephistopheles stated: “Everything that exists deserves to perish.” Goethe is surely not as sanguine as your Panguin. Apocalyptic thoughts and tendencies are a natural and predictable path for those that fail to understand.
In peace, we can find love, though it is, at times, elusive. I have moments of peace and serenity with fellow panguins as we contemplate the cold, pure blue sky and whitescapes unblemished. Aquinas realized the Dominican ideal, rooted in the experience of the Sanguine Panguin with his mates: to contemplate, and then to give to others the fruit of that
contemplation.
True peace is only possible through forgiveness and reconciliation. And with this, we can then find love. Thoughts of “the end” and “judgement” need not diminish the transcendent and sublime power of love.
